Hey thanks! just wanted to tell everyone that this actually works! I just finished installing the game, but I started downloading in breaks about a week or so ago? But anyway, hopefully it doesn't make a difference.
And I'm not sure if i did what i the above quote told me to do, but what i did was go to where I installed the game (this is also the same place where I decided to unzip all the files from the torrent download) and found a 'Black Retribution' application. I went to properties and changed the compatibility tab to make sure the game runs in admin mode and that it runs in compatibility mode. Then when I chose to run the game the same cryptic launcher auto update error appeared, said it tried once, then i waited literally for about a minute, and then the patch window appeared!
Thats where I'm at so far, it says it needs another 4777Mb patch. hope this was helpful!

Mine is now downloading too. I change the compatibility to xp sp3 and got it to open a s and admin. The launcher gave me the error the first time i opened it, but opened the patcher on the second try

Seriously since february ? why ? its the end of May already and i got the same problem. When it was at 100% wich took hours it just gave the message cryptic error. Then doing it all over again it vanishes . Then i click again it displays that the patch is suddenly 4GB wich wasnt the current amount it displayed before. Then it stops at 8,3% so i tried again wich stopped at 8,3% the second time and the third. So then i reinstalled it and with no succes it gave the cryptic error. Then AGAIN (god that word is starting to annoy me) it displays 4GB so i dont know why so many people have this issue but seriously this aint funny anymore so i dont know if they are fixing it wich takes almost 4 months IF they havent started yet to even begin to fix it. I played alot of games but i have never experienced something like this. So people we gotta solve this problem because simply to many people are trying ther best without progress.

i wish i could play this game.. my friends already playing this game.. i even borrowed their downloaded installers.. but all the same problems for me... zzzz i hope to fix up this bug...

I DONT WANT TO BE RUDE BUT I SPENT 10 FU*KING HOURS DOWNLOADING THAT AND ALL I GET IS CRYPTIC AUTO UPDATE. then it gives me error like everyone else. plz fix because my internet is slow and it really angers me. PLZ FIX AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
