Hey guys,

I have been having issues with the game I downloaded last night through steam (Blacklight: Retribution). And everytime I click on play on through my steam library it asks me if I want to make changes to my computer and I click yes and then nothing happens. And the weird thing is that if I click on friends it says I am playing Blacklight: Retribution and I am in game. I even go to task manager and go to processes and there is a Blacklight: Retribution process running but still nothing shows up.

I have went to the forums and done everything! so if anyone knows how to fix this please answer.

I have tried the following:
Restarted steam
Installed all the applications in the redist folder Including DXsetup
Restarted computer
Renamed Blob registry file
Veriefied integrity of game cache

Yea Im haveing trouble with mine as well. I downloaded it and then when I try to start it all I get is a steam window, and it looks like it is wanting to update, but never goes any further than that. What is the deal with that. I really would like to play this game.

I get as far as the Launcher starting showing their FB contest, other adverts and no start button.

Instant uninstall. 0 star rating on every review site I come across for horrific deployment, will recommend to avoid simply because support FAQ says effectively you can't have steam running to play the game. Anti Cheat system gone to far.

Is Internet Explorer updated? Do you have any other non-essential programs running (ie. Transparent Windows, docking or download programs)?

Is C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\blacklightretribution \Blacklight Retribution.exe set to Administrator?

I have the same problem i just installed windows 7 again and its not going past there play game screen. Anyone figure out the problem yet.
Also the game worked on my pc fine before i re installed windows.

What worked for me in windows 7 via bootcamp was making a shortcut of the blr.exe in the binaries folder and adding -safemode after the target make sure theres a space before -safemode. and then alt+enter for full screen.

I hope you don't consider yourself a real gamer. Deployment is fine. No issues the first time I downloaded it through Steam, and it can be played with Steam running. You're just lazy. You also, more than likely, run off a sub-par computer. Do us a favor and share your gaming tags on all sites so we can avoid your worthless reviews?

That's the same issue I have.

To every one having trouble with blacklight retribution on steam the solution is to download and install it from the blacklight retribution website.

Computer -> OS -> Program Files(x86) -> Steam -> steamapps -> common -> blacklightretribution -> Redist -> directx -> directx.exe

Clicking the execute file will start the installation for DirectX SDK. Once complete, Blacklight Retribution should start properly.

The Steam download does not automatically install DirectX.
